“Want to run in the morning?” – my best friend asks me. “Ummmm…I’ll let you know.” – I say. Then I get home and find a packet from Brooks including info about Global Running Day (which is Today!). Included were stats about how awesome running is for your physical, mental (& intimate) health + a race bib. Okay, universe, I get the hint – I need to run. I needed the reminder that running, especially first thing in the morning, creates such an incredible impact on my day. I feel like a nicer version of myself after a run – I listen better, love harder and can actually be present.
So…alarm goes off at 5am and we hit the pavement at 5:30am. 45 minutes later – I am new, I am fresh, I am awake. Thank you, endorphins. I’ll take another hit tomorrow – because I am grateful for this high. I am also grateful for a friend that is not only willing to meet me in sneakers at dawn, but who also encourages me – keeps me accountable – keeps me right.
